SECONDARY ONE REGISTRATION DAY
As I walked up the stairway to the Temasek Secondary school hall, this time as a PSG Volunteer to recruit new members to our PSG team, fond memories lingered in my mind.

Everyone had come down for the Orientation day for the 2013 Secondary 1 students, on Dec 20, 2012. Parents with their little ones started walking into the hall, some anxious, some happy. Eventually the hall was packed with supporters from every generation as parents, grandparents and siblings turned up. Compared to last year, it was an awesome turnout.
Students were allocated according to their streams - Express, NA or NT - and waited patiently for their names to be called. Instructions and information were given to them concerning the purchase of their uniforms and books, while their parents and their loved ones were seated behind waiting for them.

PSG volunteers were busy helping and directing queries from parents, such as how their children apply for higher mother tongue. Some parents we approached were willing to sign up and give a helping hand to the PSG group on an ad hoc basis. These parents knew and understood that the school was helping them to become better parents. This is especially so for those with one child in their family environment. I was very encouraged to have the opportunity to interact with them.
Life is constantly evolving. We have a chance to experience being an anxious parent, getting all the help we need, and then giving back by serving the school community when help is needed.
With this note and on behalf of the PSG, I would like to wish all Sec 1 students the very best. Enjoy this journey of learning through the school and with the school.
