PSG Celebrates Deepavali

Today, the PSG has brought the Deepvali celebrations to Temasek Secondary School (TMS). It was a great experience as it was fun-filled for both Indians and & non-Indians. The event was also graced by our Principal-Designate Mrs Dayna Chia. Together with my hubby and son, I had a really good time.

We first welcomed the staff with haarathi & put bindhis on female's forehead. Our PSG members, Vice-Principal,  Dr. Ong and Mrs Chia thought it was interesting as it was the first time some of them have ever experienced a traditional Hindu welcome.

We shared the story of how Deepavali is an ancient Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of light over darkness. The rest of the celebrations was continued with henna painting on our PSG members hand. Some of the non-indian female PSG members allowed us to drape sarees over them. Even Mrs Chia, tried on a sari too!

Some PSG members also helped us with the rangoli by decorating it with diyas, flowers, glitter powder, colour powder, rice colour powder. etc. One could easily tell that they were enjoying themselves by showing off their artistic flair.

The food was arranged by school & its lip-smacking indeed! At last, they gave me a chance to sing mangal aarthi song too.

I am really thankful for everyone made our mini celebration such a memorable and eventful one.
