The Math Festival, one of the initiatives by the Mathematics Department filled the week with fun games and activities. Starting as early as January this year, Sec 1 to 3 Math representatives from each class were asked to submit a proposal of a Math game. With our students’ creativity and inn
ovation, we received a lot of interesting game proposals of which ten were selected and given a budget to create the game. All the games were then displayed at the Student Centre from 2nd to 6th of March for the other students to play. Classes from Sec 1 to 3 were scheduled to come in at different times to ensure maximum participation. The activity went on smoothly with parents from the Parent Support Group (PSG) and some ex-Temasekians stationing themselves at each game booth to explain the game to the students. The feedback to the activity was very positive and both the students and helpers enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Most importantly, they have learnt that Math is FUN!

“The games are fun and great! The overall atmosphere is fun and lively. It was a great experience!”
~Mdm Norlela Bte Musa, PSG member

“The students are generally well-behaved and most of them are eager to try the games. They also want to know the solutions to the Math problems in the game even though they have not learnt the topic. I’m glad that I was able to help!”
~Jeremiah, ex-Temasekian graduated in 2008
“Some of the games were very well-designed and constructed. My students were excited to try out the games and were really engaged. Some of them were disappointed as they did not have enough time to finish trying out all the games.”
~Mr Elvis Low, Secondary 2 Math Teacher
“It’s so fun! The station masters are so helpful and nice. We should have this again!”
~Zoe, Secondary One student
To add on to this fun-filled week, a vendor from Acalliz Enterprise was also invited to set up an exclusive Brainteaser Fair, selling all kinds of intellectual and thought-provoking game puzzles at the school canteen on 5th and 6th of March.
