School shared with parents of Secondary 1 to 3 students on 10 April 2010. The enthusiastic Mathematics teachers conducted an introductory course on the use of the Online Portal (ACE-Learning) to enhance the learning and teaching of Mathematics in school. Besides gaining an insight on how the Online Portal is incorporated in everyday teaching and learning of Mathematics, parents are shown the various functions and features available, and also have hands-on experience working on the portal.

Allowing students to access the lessons at their own time and revisiting the lessons which they are weak in as often as they require encourages independent learning. In addition to tracking online homework, the portal also allows the monitoring and tracking of the students’ performances in online quizzes and assignments. All concerned parents can now go onto the portal to find out what and how their kids have been coping in the subject. Teachers can also access the results of their students and micro-manage the areas of weakness of their students if necessary.
This interactive portal certainly adds an interesting dimension to the learning and teaching of Mathematics in school. May we look forward to having more of such e-learning portals for other subjects too!
