TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION 2009

MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 2009

This year’s Teachers’ Day Celebration was my first event since joining the PSG.  It was held on 31st
August. A holistic event, I must say.

10 PSG members contributed to baking cookies for the teachers and non-teaching staff for Teachers’ Day and ACES Day was also celebrated on this day.  7 PSG members were present to join in the celebrations.

The Parent Support Group and the School Advisory Committee presented 3 awards to students, teacher and EAS.  The 3 awards presented were the Most Caring Student Award, the Most Caring Teacher Award and the Most Helpful EAS Award.

The Most Caring Student Award was aimed at students who were commended for his/her conduct and must exemplify care towards his/her peers and the school; must be an inspiring role model for the students to emulate; and must be kind and put others before his or her self.

The recipient of the Most Caring Student Award 2009 for the Upper Secondary level is Sangeetha Segar of Sec 4/9 and the recipient for the Most Caring Student Award for the Lower Secondary level went to Tan Zheng Jie Shaun of Sec. 2/6.  The awards were sponsored by PSG.

To qualify for the Most Caring Teacher Award, it is aimed at acknowledging and rewarding teachers who through their daily deeds and actions, exemplify the values of caring, sharing and concern for the academic, moral, social, emotional and mental well-being of their students.  While five teachers among the nominees were shortlisted for this award, the top nominee proceeds to receive the Most Caring Teacher Award.  The Parent Support Group sponsors the Most Caring Teacher Award.  This year’s awardees for the Caring Teacher Award are:

The recipient of 2009 Most Caring Teacher Award is Mr Toh Wee Kwang.

The Most Helpful EAST Award is given to a EAS who demonstrates exemplary character and our school values (Care, Integrity, Teamwork, Performance Excellence) and has on occasion/s gone beyond the call of duty.

This year’s recipient of the Most Helpful EAS Award is Mdm Goh Lan Eng.  The award is being sponsored by the School Advisory Committee.

After the presentation of these awards, the students proceeded to have breakfast with their respective class teachers. The teachers were then treated to a concert put up by the students.

Temasek PSG would like to take this opportunity to wish all the teachers a very Happy Teacher’s Day.
